First Time College Students


Attending college is a major decision in your life and we are excited that you are interested in Missouri Southern. Here is some important information that you will need to know about your next steps in becoming a Lion!

First Time Freshman Admissions Requirements

• Incoming freshman requirements (if under the age of 21)

Incoming freshmen must meet ONE of the following requirements:

  • High School GPA 2.25 or Higher
  • ACT Composite score of 21 or higher
  • Graduate in the top 50% of their class

• Incoming freshman requirements (if over the age of 21)

Incoming freshmen must meet ONE of the following requirements:

  • High school GPA 2.25 or higher
  • Graduate in the top 50% of their class
    • **ACT not required for admissions but may be requested when enrolling in classes to assist with placement.

Dates and Deadlines

Deadline for Admission

We will stop accepting applications for the current semester on the first Friday of the semester.

Deadlines for Enrollment, Schedule Changes & Course Withdrawal

While you can enroll in classes and make schedule changes until the first week of classes, we encourage you to enroll for classes as soon as the option becomes available to you, April 26 - August 13.

The official deadline for enrollment is August 16. You can make changes to your schedule for no additional costs until August 23, when Late Enrollment Costs and Drop/Add Costs begin. If you need to fully withdrawal from your courses, the last day to receive a full refund is August 27.

If you need to withdraw from a class or multiple classes, the final date to withdraw from a class or classes with the grade "W" (withdrawn) is November 29. After this date, if you need to withdraw from a class, you must withdraw from all of your classes. The last date to withdraw from all of your classes with the grade "W" is November 29.

Tuition Payment & Financial Aid

100% student account balance due/payment plan set-up by Tuesday, August 24, 2021 by 5:00 pm

Last day for 100% refund (full-term courses): August 27, 2021

Fall Semester Academic Dates

Semester will begin August 16.

The last day of classes will be December 3.

Final Examinations will take place from December 6-9, and the semester will officially end on December 9.

Fall Commencement will be held on December 11.

Fall Semester Breaks

You will have September 6 off for Labor Day (campus will be closed).

You will have October 11-12 off for Fall Break (campus will be closed).

You will have November 24 - 26 off for Thanksgiving (campus will be closed).
