First Time College Students


Attending college is a major decision in your life and we are excited that you are interested in Missouri Southern. Here is some important information that you will need to know about your next steps in becoming a Lion!

First Time Freshman Admissions Requirements

• Incoming freshman requirements (if under the age of 21)

Incoming freshmen must meet ONE of the following requirements:

  • High School GPA 2.25 or Higher
  • ACT Composite score of 21 or higher
  • Graduate in the top 50% of their class

• Incoming freshman requirements (if over the age of 21)

Incoming freshmen must meet ONE of the following requirements:

  • High school GPA 2.25 or higher
  • Graduate in the top 50% of their class
    • **ACT not required for admissions but may be requested when enrolling in classes to assist with placement.

Dates and Deadlines

Deadline for Admission

We will stop accepting applications for the current semester on the first Friday of the semester.

Deadlines for Enrollment, Schedule Changes & Course Withdrawal

While you can enroll in classes and make schedule changes until the first week of classes, we encourage you to enroll for classes as soon as the option becomes available to you, October 18 - January 16.

The official deadline for enrollment is January 18. You can make changes to your schedule for no additional costs until January 28, when Late Enrollment Costs and Drop/Add Costs begin. If you need to fully withdrawal from your courses, the last day to receive a full refund is January 28.

If you need to withdraw from a class or multiple classes, the final date to withdraw from a class or classes with the grade "W" (withdrawn) is May 2. After this date, if you need to withdraw from a class, you must withdraw from all of your classes. The last date to withdraw from all of your classes with the grade "W" is May 2.

Tuition Payment & Financial Aid

100% student account balance due/payment plan set-up by Tuesday, January 26, 2021 by 5:00 pm

Last day for 100% refund (full-term courses): January 28, 2021

Spring Semester Academic Dates

Semester will begin January 18.

The last day of classes will be May 6.

Final Examinations will take place from May 9-12, and the semester will officially end on May 12.

Spring Commencement will be held on May 14.

Spring Semester Breaks

You will have January 17 off for Martin Luther King Jr. Day (campus will be closed).

You will have March 21-25 off for Spring Break (campus will be closed).
